Horace J. "Harry" Amaral Scholarship
Harry Amaral worked in the financial aid office at the University of Rhode Island until his passing in 2010. He assisted thousands of students with their financial aid and also influenced a great many people in the Rhode Island financial aid industry. Many members of the Rhode Island Association of Financial Aid Administrators, RIASFAA, were work-study or graduate assistants for him. Because of his passion and mentoring in the financial aid profession, a scholarship has been established for RI residents attending a RI university/college as an undergraduate student.
One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to one recipient.
Criteria
In order to qualify as an applicant, students must meet the following criteria:

Rhode Island resident
-
Be currently enrolled at a RI College/University that is a current member of RIASFAA and continuing enrollment for 24/25 year
-
Demonstrate financial need (Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file)
-
Pursuing an undergraduate degree
-
Preference is given to students working in a financial aid office

Senator Claiborne Pell Scholarship
​
The Senator Claiborne Pell Scholarship was established by RIASFAA in 1998 in recognition of Senator Pell’s legacy. During the Senator’s years in office, he made historical contributions in the arts, environmental sciences and to higher education. Senator Pell is best known for the Pell Grant legislation that provides direct federal funds for low and middle income students seeking a higher education.
One scholarship of $500 will be awarded to one recipient.
